Andrea Ricci of ISINNOVA takes centre stage to discuss the future of European Research and Innovation. From the transition of Horizon Europe to FP10: challenges and opportunities for the R&I community.

From 15 to 18 October, the seventh edition of the APRE Annual Conference, Towards a New Future, will offer a comprehensive programme focused on the challenges and opportunities of Horizon Europe. This event will serve as a crucial occasion for the Italian research and innovation community, bringing together experts, institutional representatives and leading figures in the field of R&I.

Among the keynote speakers is Andrea Ricci, Senior Researcher at ISINNOVA, who also presides over the APRE Scientific Committee and the Towards FP10 Expert Group. Ricci will give a keynote speech on 17 October at 10:00 during the APREdialogue sessions. These sessions are open to all and will delve into the pressing issues facing European research. Ricci’s presentation will provide critical insights into the future of European research, focusing on Italy’s role in the transition from Horizon Europe to the upcoming FP10, while outlining strategies to overcome the challenges of this transition.

A programme full of insights and discussions

The APRE 2024 Conference will unfold over four days of roundtables, workshops and keynote speeches with a strong focus on Horizon Europe. Participants will explore key priorities, future perspectives and the impact of European research and innovation policies. This event provides a unique opportunity for researchers, entrepreneurs, public administrators and science communicators to engage in meaningful discussions.

The APREdialogue sessions will be at the heart of the event, with Italian and European experts addressing key topics such as the evolution of European partnerships and updates on the Personnel Unit Cost for reporting personnel costs in Horizon Europe projects. Each APREdialogue will be preceded by an APREbrief, a short, informative introduction to give participants a clear and concise overview of the upcoming discussions.

How to participate

The first two days of the conference (15 and 16 October) are exclusively for APRE members, by invitation only, and will take place at the National Central Library of Rome. These sessions will focus on internal APRE discussions, allowing in-depth reflection on national research strategies.

On 17 and 18 October, the conference will be open to the public, with online sessions available to anyone interested in European research and innovation. Participation is free, but registration is required.
