Andrea Ricci recently spoke about the foresight study “Beyond the Horizon: Foresight in support of future EU Research and Innovation Policy” (BOHEMIA), at the sixth meeting of the Research Policy Group on uncertainty and the future research and innovation programme, which took place in Oslo, Norway on October 26-27, 2017.
The meeting looked at current uncertainty regarding the future, and what this might entail for the next framework programme. How do we turn global challenges, such as climate change and sustainability, into opportunities for international cooperation? How do we best meet our mutual goals within a European and international context that is continually in flux? How can we harness scientific knowledge to address real-world problems? And what sort of approach can ensure the most efficacious response to wider societal challenges?
A fruitful discussion was held on these and related topics, as one of the first building blocks for the new framework programme, designed to incubate innovative and flexible solutions to tomorrow’s problems.
On November 9, 2017, Andrea Ricci will again speak about BOHEMIA, the use of foresight, and the next framework programme at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology’s study visit to Brussels.
